A same sex marriage is usually defined as the union of two people of the same gender. There is a lot of debate on this issue to the degree that some US states have banned this type of union. A recent interview, titled Jesus gay marriage sheds a lot of light on traditional views.

Each state has their own legislation governing same sex marriages. This type of union was only introduced recently in the 21st century. The last decade has seen many states and countries lifting the ban on this type of union, but there is still some that need to make these changes. There are at least 34 states that have legalized gay marriages and even overseas, countries are starting to realize the human rights impact on this issue.

The campaign for human rights is a global initiative and countries around the world have been advocating for equal rights. It is a social, political and human and civil-rights issue that affects many countries. It is also an issue that affects many religious sects and causes much dispute and debate. A union between gay couples would result in many benefits that they would otherwise not be able to claim, especially in terms of tax and legal protection.

There are many psychological and physiological benefits for a same-sex unions. The couple would not be exposed to any stigmatization or public discrimination. Their quality of life would improve because of the security in the intimacy shared. They would be able to share all the difficult moments as well as the joyful moments of life because of the strong relationship that such a union can create.

Same sex marriages are often performed in a civil ceremony but may also be performed in certain religious settings, depending on the views of that religion. Various faith groups allow same sex marriages and may even conduct the ceremony. The ceremony is often performed in exactly the same way as a heterosexual union and some couples go all out with beautiful wedding dresses and spectacular wedding reception.

Issues will most likely crop up in a couples union and it is advisable that these couples discuss these issues before tying the knot. Parenting may be a challenge for same sex couples. There has been research conducted that has proved that children thrive emotionally and psychologically in a stable loving home. Therefore children of gay couples should not have any emotional or psychological problems.

There is plenty of heated discussion about the "sinfulness" of homosexuality in certain religions. Some churches and religions are completely against this type of matrimony. However, there are some religions that accept homosexuality and may even perform ceremonies for same sex couples.

Gay marriage may have some religious or social and political challenges but there has been a lot of progress with legalization thereof. Certain states in the USA still have a lot of work to do to advocate true human rights. Perhaps in future we will see those few states turn their legislation.
