Since both the husband and the wife are owners of the house, then the wife may actually claim ownership even if the husband paid for them. This is simply because most laws would state that a marriage is a partnership wherein both parties will share their assets.
Another disadvantage for men is that they also have to pay their ex wives alimony for as long as they live. This is assumed to be for the children but even if the children are already grown up, the husband still has to give the ex wife the alimony. Even if the man is struggling with his own finances, his ex wife is still there to bother him.

Most states would go through the proper court procedures before the ex wife can be able to claim any support money.
