Non Religious Wedding Officiants And Themed Venues

By Anna Bennett

When it comes to marriage, there are several things to consider. Beyond the basic questions about children, home, religion and lifestyle, are those involving planning and organizing a ceremony. For, while some couples prefer a traditional church wedding based in common religious beliefs, others prefer non religious wedding officiants to officiate an interfaith or non traditional ceremony.

One thing which is a common theme at all these events is that of uniting individuals whom desire to make a commitment. Whether the commitment be for a year and a day in a hand-fasting ceremony, or those whom want to make a State sanctioned lifetime commitment, it can often be difficult to find the right venue for this type of event.

Ceremonies whether traditional or otherwise are a celebration of love, honor, respect and trust between those tying the knot, or ribbon in the case of a hand-fasting. In some cases, there may be family traditions and rituals which the individuals will perform during the service, especially in traditional ones. Whereas, others may desire to create new and unique rituals specific to interests shared by the couple.

While traditional weddings are often some of the most beautiful events in the world, non-traditional ceremonies can often be just as beautiful and heartwarming. Some of the most imaginative and heart-felt ceremonies are those which couples have arranged, planned and organized rather than those held in a chapel, church, synagogue or temple.

One of the most important aspects of either a traditional or non traditional ceremony is choosing the appropriate officiant. For, there are religious and secular individuals whom have been ordained which can officiate at memorials, weddings and provide spiritual counseling. In most cases, those working in the secular world have become ordained through organizations such as the Universal Life Church or similar organizations which offer instant ordination by filling out a form on an associated website.

When desiring a friend or family member to officiate the ceremony, it can often be possible for the individual to become ordained online in minutes. For, the Universal Life Church and similar organizations now offer instant ordination in which an individual can then provide services such as weddings, memorials and spiritual counseling. While this is the case, it is important that the individual have the knowledge and skills to perform such ceremonies.

When planning a themed event, most officiants are comfortable adapting to wearing special attire, as long as doing so does not violate any religious beliefs. Whereas, the cost of any clothing specially ordered is often considered part of the overall wedding budget. As such, most often the clothing is a gift from the bride and groom to the officiant.

Whether hosting a local or destination, traditional, non-traditional or themed event, it is essential to book the officiant and venue well in advance of the ceremony. For, in some cases, there can often be several months to a year or more wait to book popular destinations and locations, especially those related to specific themes.
